Holy cow this place is amazing!!!! The baths were incredible!!!! The staff was so perfect! You can have little ice creams after the baths. The sauna had eucalyptus in it! The rooms are perfect and small just for the city. Incredible incredible stay! Breakfast was very affordable and everyone was so helpful.
Absolutely loved our room here in the “older” part of Tokyo. I wasn’t crazy about the amusement park screams from the rollercoaster but you really couldn’t hear them when the windows were closed. Very traditional and beautiful hotel. Very central to everything and close to wonderful markets. Absolutely spotless with a wide range of free amenities just in case you forget anything. Traditional tatami mats which feel great underfoot - shoes at the door. Staff were great! Small’ish rooms but that is what you get in Tokyo … great place. Wonderful Onsen. NB No Tattoos allowed in the onsen
I stayed at this hotel during my recent trip to Japan in December 2023.
This hotel is part of a chain that operates throughout Japan. They're reasonably priced, and all of them have great amenities. Check in starts at 3PM, and though you can't check in earlier without a fee, the hotel will hold on to your luggage free of charge while you explore and wait for check-in time.
The rooms are pretty standard, if a little on the small side. The Akihabara one had enough space for me and my two suitcases, though I had to be a little creative when opening them due to the small space. The room comes with an attached toilet and shower room, with a sink for washing up and brushing your teeth next to the entrance.
The amenities of the hotel are what truly set it apart for me. Each Dormy inn has a public bath, accessible by guests. The baths at this particular hotel were spacious, with one large central bath, a dry sauna, a cold bath, and two outdoor baths (I'd assume the same setup on the women's side). There's a changing room with lockers to store your clothes, as well as washing machines, driers, and a few stations with hair driers, lotion, hair tonics, ect.
The water temperature was maintained based on outdoor temperatures, and was around 40-42 degrees Celsius on the days I was there. The dry sauna was around 95 degrees. It was a great way to unwind after checking in or after coming back for the day.
The hotel also offers some fun free amenities, such as free ice creams after 3PM on the bath floor, free soba from 9:30-11PM, and free prebiotic drinks from 5-10AM.
Overall, this hotel was great for both amenities and location, and I would happily stay in any of their locations in the future.
The hot spring is amazing, Westerners I will warn everyone is full nude (males and females separated) and no tattoos allowed.
I loved this experience.
This hotel provided free Ramen every night, and free ice creams. Also complimentary hairbrush, toothbrush, razor.
The staff are all super friendly. And speak English.
The room is absolutely tiny... my partner could touch both sides of the room when stretched out. The bed is tiny and super hard... it says double bed room but the bed is more like an Australian single. The pillows are extremely uncomfortable. i had to buy a plush pillow from a shop. Bathroom sink is next to bed.
Toilet is epic. Shower in room is very small, recommend using hot spring instead. Room has a safe and a kettle, microwave is on 9th floor.
couple. 13 Nights November 2023
Genuinely the worst hotel I've stayed at in Japan! The rooms were unbelievably small, but moreover outdated and old fashioned. The bathroom was small and somewhat dirty, and bizarrely the bathroom sink was next to the bed.
The onsen was nice however, but as for the room, very poor.
For the price paid, (38,000 yen) I'd suggest that you can find so much better value for money.
This is one of the best hotel I stayed in Akihabara. They have awesome hot springs, free dessert in the room, free ice cream, free ramen, and comic books for you to read!! I have never been to a hotel that gives away this much free stuff in Tokyo! The only negative (and therefore 4 stars) is that the room is quite dusty. I’m sensitive to dust and I could not sleep well because of the cough caused by dust. I was only able to sleep after wearing a mast. I will still stay again!! What a bargain!
I lived in dormy inn Akihabara last time I came to Japan so chose dormy inn again this time.
The room is small for two persons (if you travel with another one with lots’s of luggage then the room might be too small for you) but comfortable. The public bath place is clean and well maintained.
It only takes 2 min to take the Ginza line. There are tons of great retaurant near the hotel.
I booked a room for 3. the room was confirmed for 3. When arrived to the lobby, I was re-asked that indeed we are 3, yes, it was me and 2 of my sons (10 and 14 years old).
when we came up to our room, I found one bed (look the pic) which barely can accommodate 2 persons.
I went to the lobby and showed them the pic, asking where is the second bed, for the third person. I was answered that 3 people can sleep on that bed.
Later I asked for a futon or tatami, but the guys in the lobby answered that there is no such option and offered me a BLANKET!
Finally I got 2 blankets and slept like that on the floor..
I understand that the rooms in Tokyo are usually small. But the room for 3 was not for 3 in any case. if you are a couple, it is an ok room to stay, but be careful if you are more than that.
Location is good, staff, who really tried to be nice were ok and the communal bath on the 9th floor, which was pretty good.
